About Us

Born in the heart of God in 2007, Pyinya Sanyae is a response to the cry of the poor and vulnerable of Myanmar.

2007 Cardinal Charles Bo with the Infant Jesus Myanmar Mission initiated the first teachers’ training course (TTC). Pyinya Sanyae, as it is now known, is a collaboration with the Archdiocese of Yangon. A faith response that was established primarily to improve the education of the children living in church run boarding houses.

Called to be partners with God in Mission, our posture is one ear listening deeply to the cry of the poor and the other ear resting against the heart of our God.

Since 2009 in response to needs from other than the boarding houses, Pyinya Sanyae teachers began to serve in villages and community schools that reach out to children from vulnerable and disadvantaged communities in various parts of the country.

Our response emerges out of a discernment process.

Our Motto

“The Mission of Pyinya Sanyae is to bring about the holistic education of each young person that Providence sends, who in turn, helps to continue this same education to every child s/he is sent to, giving priority to the most marginalised and disadvantaged.”

Today, Pyinya Sanyae offers professional training for (a) the Certificate in Education (b) Diploma in Education (c) short courses in teacher education (d) Intensive English Programme (e) Montessori pre-school training
In 2021 amidst the Covid 19 pandemic, Pyinya Sanyae began on-line classes for the Diploma in Education and Certificate in Education to keep the possibilities of learning alive.

As a faith-based response, emphasis is given to the faith formation of each person and his/her personal growth in self awareness.

Our approach is “organic” in that where possible, we evolve a curriculum that meets the real needs of the students; this implies a deep listening to each child and to the realities around.
We strive for excellence as God deserves our best.

“In all the work you are doing, work the best you can.
Work as if you were doing it for the Lord, not for people.”
– Colossians 3:23

Pyinya Sanyae is a community which fosters a deep sense of belonging, sense of responsibility and healthy interpersonal relationships that look beyond one’s ethnicity, religion, culture, and nationality. We believe that real learning and growth takes place in the context of our relationships. Being faith-based, God becomes the Centre of each one and the point of reference especially in times of conflict, differences and chaos.

In collaboration we journey closely with the local church, monastic and civil communities to better serve the children. We are supported by partners in mission who provide technical support and other resources. Together we share in this call to bring quality and just education to where it is most needed.
